Adventurous ideas for exploring South Australian wine regions

Adelaide, South Australia’s 18 wine regions boast more than world-class wine. They are also home to adventures that will have your heart pumping and blood flowing quicker than you can say 'I love Shiraz'.

Thrill-seekers don’t have to look far to tick off adventure goals. You can:

  • take to the treetops and zipline through the Adelaide Hills’ Kuitpo Forest
  • grab your board and surf off the coast at McLaren Vale, or the Limestone Coast at Robe
  • take to the skies and go hot air ballooning in the Barossa
  • go underground and try spelunking (cave exploration) in Naracoorte on the Limestone Coast
  • lean way, way back, and abseil off a cliff in Onkaparinga Gorge in McLaren Vale
  • put one foot in front of the other, and climb (very) steep Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills
  • plunge from a plane and go skydiving over Bremerton Wines in Langhorne Creek
  • hit the beach and sandboard the 'Little Sahara' natural inland sand dunes on Kangaroo Island
  • canoe down the floodplains of the Murray River National Park in the Riverland.

These are just a few of the many options on offer! After the adrenaline rush of your chosen adventure, make sure to kick back and relax by sampling the local wine.
